THE SEEKER'S GUIDE TO TWISTED TAVERNS
A 5th Edition Tavern Crawl
I was hired as a freelance writer for the Seeker's Guide to Twisted Taverns, the "tavern crawl" anthology from Ghostfire Gaming. My two submissions were the Dancing Horse and the Bloated Bounty.
The Dancing Horse (pictured in the artwork) was meant to be an obvious pastiche of the Prancing Pony from the Lord of the Rings. At the same time, it still had to stand on its own. So, there's plenty of familiar guests - a questing family of dwarves, a halfling burglar, and a vagrant wizard, all with their own new twists.
The Bloated Bounty, in contrast, was a more wretched hive. It was once a noble villa, and the former owner has placed an ever-increasing price on the proprietor's head. It's a place where nothing is as it seems. Its patrons are mostly assassins and thieves. Some of the staff are devils in disguise, and a few think they're getting the bad end of their bargain. Could this mean a change in management is coming soon?
